Its a sunny day in Gran Canaria and we are here to start the Aterra Surfski Experience. My boat for the day is the new  Carbonology Splash. This ski is offcourse not amed for me but if I dont test it in difficult conditions I dont know what i sell. This is the first ski on the market for the serious youth and kid. This kind of skis also fit a group of customers that wants a small ski for fun and leisure.

First impression is that Hein and Jason have succed with making a good looking neat ski. It looks fast event if its short. I take the light boat and go down to the water adjust the pedals some were longer than in the middle. I am 170 and weigh 74 kg. I jump in the Splash and feel that the seat is very narrow for me. The seat will be wider in next version that we will get to Sweden in april 2017. We have bigger kids here and many 14-15 year old have the same length as me. So the seat will be a bit wider (same width as the Vault, still narrow though). Your posission is pretty high and feet low that gives you a more agressiv catch (same as Vault and Pulse and probably the new Flash).

Out in the water I feel this is not a boring stable ski, its a bit tippy on the top but have a lot of endstability. I paddle some strokes and next suprice is how well she accelerate and i can keep the speed up very easily.

We start our session in flat water there is not much wind in this protected area so Esteban Medina have a RIB to make our session as difficult as possible. Out there in the messy water when Esteban is destroying every small surface of flat water I fell in love with this small little machine. It handles like a big ski and catch the waves as easy as the Zest does. Impressing. Offcourse a short ski have its limits when it comes to waveruns but a good rider can be pretty fast with this little Splash.

The Splash is designed for:

  • Age 9-15
  • Length up to 175 cm depends on leg length
  • Weight up to around 75kg
  • Youth and kids who wants a reall surfski
  • Adults for leisure and fun
  • When they grow from the Splash the idea is that they shall move up to Vault / Pulse
  • Its not a beginner ski we class it as a intermediant surfski.
  • Price in Sweden 15 990:-
